Now it is time to give back

Meet

Carolina Garcia

Dr. Carolina Garcia was born and raised in Colombia. She earned her dentistry degree with an honored thesis from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia, and she later opened her private practice. She completed her post-graduate degree in Prosthodontics at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada Fundación CIEO, where her thesis was presented at national and international conventions. Additionally, she completed another postgraduate program in University Education with an honored thesis at the same institution. During her time in Colombia, Dr. Garcia held faculty positions in various undergraduate and graduate programs. She traveled locally and nationally to deliver lectures and hands-on courses related to restorative dentistry and occlusion. Dr. Garcia is a board member of Hispanic Dental Association Greater Chicago Chapter.

In 2012 she moved to the United States on a scholarship from her home country to complete a dual Master’s Program in Oral Sciences and Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa, which offered a comprehensive curriculum encompassing clinical practice, research, and teaching experience. She received research awards and presented a table clinic focused on Occlusion at the Academy of Operative Dentistry meeting. She has held faculty positions in the United States and currently teaches in the Chicago area.

With more than two decades of clinical practice and currently eighteen years of teaching experience, Dr. Garcia is a passionate advocate for occlusion, having navigated through prosthodontics and operative dentistry specialties. She continues to expand her knowledge, offering an integrative approach to restorative dentistry and eagerly sharing her expertise while learning from others. Dr. Garcia is an active member of the Hispanic Dental Association and is a proud Colombian mother of two children and two cats. She embraces a holistic approach to life, enjoys a delicious cup of Colombian coffee, and practices yoga regularly. She represents a strong voice on behalf of women in both dentistry and academia. Her slogan “Now it is time to give back,” reflects her dedication to her dental educational mission at this point in her life. Come and join our community!

My

Mission

This website serves as a portal of knowledge, opinions, and experience, that can safely be shared with the world. My mission is driven by continuous learning, evidence-based practice, and the spirit of sharing and improving. I am deeply passionate about teaching from the heart, believing that positive emotions significantly reinforce the learning experience. Beyond being a faculty member, I am a storyteller who connects with the audience through real-life events relevant to restorative dentistry and occlusion, and delivering messages grounded in scientific evidence that are useful for their daily clinical practice. My educational approach combines didactic storytelling lectures that explain the “why” with hands-on sessions that demonstrate the “how". I aspire to reach the hearts of you, dentists, and dental students from all over the world, strengthening your awareness of occlusion in restorative dentistry, and fostering a sense of belonging to this vibrant community of dentists and students.
